Dutch Postcode Lottery

On 9 February 2011, The Dutch Postcode Lottery grant enabled us to start the initiative for a period of 3 years, as a Special Project through Rewilding Europe’s partner ARK Nature. In 2013, Rewilding Europe – by then a legal entity on its own – became a beneficiary of the Dutch Postcode Lottery, for a period of five years. In October 2016, after a formal evaluation, the Board of Directors of the Dutch Postcode Lottery decided to continue cooperation and provide support to Rewilding Europe for the period 2017-2021.

The first grant, which was received through our initiating partner ARK Nature, was mainly allocated to the support of the first five rewilding areas, The Green Treasures of Europe. This project was successfully closed in 2015.

On 13 February 2013, Rewilding Europe became a beneficiary of the Dutch Postcode Lottery, enabling us to consolidate achievements so far and build the initiative for the years to come, and leverage new strategic and funding partners.

The Dutch Postcode Lottery has been raising funds since 1989 to support organizations working towards a fairer and greener world. It has grown steadily to become the biggest charity lottery in the Netherlands, currently supporting 99 non-governmental organizations. It has dispensed over 5 billion euros to beneficiaries since foundation.
